the mean reds.

Holly Golightly: You know those days when you get the mean reds?

Paul Varjak: The mean reds, you mean like the blues?

Holly Golightly: No. The blues are because you're getting fat and maybe it's been raining too long, you're just sad that's all. The mean reds are horrible. Suddenly you're afraid and you don't know what you're afraid of. Do you ever get that feeling?

It's a two post kind of day because the happies and the mean reds need their space, I don't want them bleeding together. I thought this was the most appropos quote for this post as my heart is heavy.

April 27, 2011 marked a tragic day in the Southern United States. Tornadoes rampaged Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, & Tennessee, obliviating towns and taking away precious things from precious people. This gal grew from but babe to a woman loving (and living in) some these parts. I find myself praising the good Lord every night that not one of my dear friends in the destruction path were injured, but there are so many who lost everything, including their special friends and loved ones. So many are in so much need for both things and peace.
I think in the end, we all just want to be loved and give love and feel good and feel content at the end of the day. I don't know how many people see this but, if you've stumbled upon my little patch of grass on the internet, please help! Whether it's donating through the Red Cross here , sending food and water and batteries and essentials, or simply sending prayers and love and hugs and good thoughts, please do so.
Here is a bit of a sassy way to help- I purchased mine yesterday;

"You cannot do a kindness too soon, for you never know how soon it will be too late. - Ralph Waldo Emerson"

That's what this beautiful pendant says and proceeds of it go to Tornado Disaster relief. You can find it right
here on Etsy. I think it's magic and can't wait to wear it every day to remind that life is so much more than precious and to take deep breaths every morning and not be afraid to live to the fullest and help those in need.

I'm hopefully these mean reds will disappear much sooner than later.
Love to you all.

Happies.

Hi Honeys!

April has definitely been such month for your ol' pal....so so so much happening:

1. HAPPY B-EARTH-DAY TO ME!!! I say that because this nature goddess was born on, yeah you guessed it, Earth Day....I think that's where the flower child in me comes from. I hope you all gave Momma Nature a big smooch on the mouth and did something real special for her...plant a tree? take the bus? It matters not what you did for Momma, just as long as you did something.
I myself killed two birds with one stone, figuratively of course! Momma and I shared B-day presents this year as I was treated and given the most BEAUTIFUL beach cruiser eva. Really, it's quite magical. Royal blue, with cream and brown leather accents, and a darling wicker basket to hold...stuff. Maybe nature-y stuff? Maybe this....

You knows hows I likes my bubbly.
Pics of my derlin' BC to come.
2. OMG. Wedding season is taking over my life. THIS. IS. AWESOME. Like I said in a previous post, I feel super blessed to do something where I get to play with sparkly things and make magic and love happen. With that said, HOLY SMOKES I'm super busy! I wish I could tell you all of the fun things we are planning for some super special couples but, there isn't enough time in the day! Here, however are a few of my favorite tidbits....

Yes, that's right, one wedding is having The Atlanta Mass Choir flown in to sing at the Ceremony!

RED CHANDELIERS!!! Hanging throughout a crisp white tent. YUM.

So in honor of all of the fabulous weddings....
Princess Gorgey McGorgey Pants.
CHEERS!

It also comes in multiple colors....like NAVY & WHITE. Oh, lawd. The yellow is still my favorite though.

Ummm, next is a throwback with a fantastic twist.....

LOUBOUTIN BARBIE. ENOUGH SAID.

Last but most certainly not least....

This makes me super happy, as I love a good cupcake. It's one of the many things I feel can cure any ailment....this is a print you can purchase! (gasp, sigh) And you can do it right here by emailing the artist Allen. Presh, presh, freaking, presh.

Alright, now I'm so happy I can hardly stand it.

the life & times of jnc

Today I'm going to go all rule-breaker. I'm blogging a tasty little life update at the work place. Rebel, Rebel.

I just feel the need to let everyone know, what your ol' pal has been up to, as lots of things have changed in the past few months. First and foremost, I've landed my dream job. I honestly was never sure I would be able to say that, but the older I get (although you would never know because of my glorious genetics and love of heavy night cream :), the more I realize the saying "what's meant to be will always find a way" rings so true! For the majority of my life- after of course I went through the standard "I want to be a...insert; Christian Country Singer, Broadway Star, Baby Doctor, Time Traveller, Princess, Narnian"- I've always wanted to plan events & weddings. Now, I'm lucky enough to say THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I DO!!!! Hallelujah!

A few months ago, I was seriously contemplating a complete life makeover. It was a pretty rough patch and I was super down and out. I thought of all of the places I wanted to live, of all the things I wanted to do and then I pulled up the covers over my head because I was too scared to try. Well the big Man upstairs had something else in mind. Not a few days after my little breakdown, I came across a position for an assistant for an event planning company. I immediately dusted off the resume, threw a little glitter on it, along with a big prayer for good luck, and sent it on it's merry way. About a week later, I received word that I landed an interview. The interview ended up consisting of talking about weddings and glitter and flowers and pretty shiny things (which you know are my favorite things in the whole of the world). We laughed and giggled and ended the interview with a hug. Couldn't have asked for more. Of course the rest is history, I landed the job, and have since been making dreams magic happen.
these be my darling business cards.

I'm so excited and feel very blessed. I always thought party planning was just about the actual planning and making things pretty but, it's so much more than that. I get to be a part of one of the most important days in someone's life. I'm very much aware that I'm a one emotional creature and to get to fill my days with LOVE in all forms? Well that's pretty special.
Dream job is not all without faults though. It's stressful, and sometimes when you are dealing with so many emotions and such pressure, people can be not so sunshiney and sweet. Whatevs, as long as they are happy in the end. Another downside is the hours I keep. Don't get me wrong it does not suck to wake up and go to this office:
i dream about this and really all bird cages now. when you walk in, this is directly to the left, to the left.

this is the seating area to the right. and yes, that is an antique slate blue velvet and mahogany love seat from the turn of the century. yummy.

this is a bit of the artistic side of me coming out. i snapped this picture of the paper parasols that hang down from the ceiling. true story.

another shot of the seating area. you can really catch a glimpse of the detailing on the love seat.

I guess what it all comes down to is, the time I get to spend with my nearest and dearest who don't reside in my little patch of paradise, is becoming increasingly precious. I just recently had to miss the super special wedding of my super special friend and it really broke my little ticker. I know when I do get to see everyone (which I'm hoping for a very near future reunion) the world will be right as it always is, and we'll hug and gab and drink sophisticated toddies. Until then, I'll keep my invitation to the coast where I call home open, and hopefully keep everyone as updated as possible through this little gem and other forms of communication.

Ok, I think this post has lasted long enough. Before I go though, if you like to look at beautful weddings, because you are getting married, or just because go here it's called Style Me Pretty, and it's fabulous.

xx.

stick a fork in me...i'm done.

Just wanted to share of a few of my personal faves with you....
I'm jonesing for this muy bueno jacket.
Merci, J.CREW merci.

Like Alice through the rabbit hole, I fell into the delicious wonderland that is

Holy Heaven is a place on Earth, Batman. I dream about everything she blogs about and would most certainly not contest to waking up one day and finding myself in her lovely world.

And last but not least....
Ladies and Gentlemen, may I present;

A PETITE LAP GIRAFFE!
This is a real giraffe. They are teeninsy. Baby petite lap giraffe is 2 blessed weeks old in this picture. I know, I know, compose yourselves- it gets better. The website where you can learn and PURCHASE (gasp, sigh) is
they are bred in Russia. This is verbatim what their "about petite giraffe" section says:

Petite Lap Giraffes are very funny animal that require special care. They need lots of love. Hugs and kisses every day. Otherwise they make tears.
If you have children, petite lap giraffes no problem. If child is loud, the giraffe will be shy, but does not bite. PLG’s are very clean. With training they will go in box like cats. Allergies never a problem.
Size: adult is 76 centimeters, baby is 15 centimeters tall. Weight is 4.5kg unless the giraffe is fat cow then 5.44kg
Diet: distilled water and bonsai tree leaves
Health problems: none. They are the best.
Gestation: 420 days
Living conditions: PLG’s love being indoors in filtered air conditioning. If they can listen to music of Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov it is dream.
Grooming: a bubble bath once a week with purified water is all they need.

I mean, could you just melt right now? I can't even follow it. So I'll just bid you adieu and hope you have sweet dreams filled with mini-raffe's...

xx.

i'm a little bit country.

i love all music,
but i don't delve into country all that much anymore.
this song though,
it makes my heart
flutter.

new directions.

I've decided to change this poor little neglected blog up. From here on out, this blog is going to be filled with sugar and spice and everything (that I think) is nice. I love music and fashion, and decorations, and glitter, and good times. So there. Take that blog world.
With that said I leave you with this:

happy friday, y'all.
